Expert Olympic Peninsula Steelhead Fly Fishing Guide
Welcome to the "River Fishing Guide" website! I am Larry Ford and am an Expert Olympic Peninsula Steelhead Fly Fishing Guide.
The rivers surrounding Forks offer the opportunity to catch trophy class winter steelhead, fish in excess of 30lbs cruise our rivers each winter. We are one of the few areas that still have healthy runs of wild steelhead.
I started fishing our local rivers in 1982 & immediately fell in love with them. Over the years I've fished many other areas in B.C., Oregon & California which I have also enjoyed but the rivers here have always been special for me due to the diversity of the watersheds & fish.
We also have good runs of spring kings, summer steelhead, summer & fall kings, coho & cutthroat trout. There are fresh fish entering our rivers every month of the year.
The names Sol Duc, Calawah, Bogachiel & Hoh are synonymous with steelhead fishing & provide a challange for even experienced fishermen yet can still be enjoyed by the novice angler.
Our rivers accommodate a wide variety of fishing techniques, you will find classic runs to swing a fly, ideal Hot shot water, gravel runs to sidedrift, boulder filled runs to float or indicater fish, in other words if you are looking for a specific type of water you will find it here.
A word of caution for those planning to bring their own boat, there are rapids here that will test even the most experienced rower, I highly recommend hiring a guide to learn how to negotiate our rivers before attempting them on your own. Driftboats are wrecked here each year.
When combined with the natural beauty of the Olympic peninsula a guided fishing trip down one of our rugged rivers will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.
